Council passes by-law to create new ward boundary system in Kawartha Lakes
March 22, 2017 - At the March 21 Council meeting, Council passed By-Law 2017-053 to decrease the municipality's wards from 16 to 8. This follows Council's decision in October of last year to reduce the size of Council from 16 Councillors and a Mayor to 8 Councillors and a Mayor. Changes will take effect in the 2018 election.

City establishes process to assist with compliance of mandatory connection by-law
May 24, 2016 - The City of Kawartha Lakes is taking steps to assist property owners to comply with the by-law 2014-255 that requires mandatory water or wastewater connection to municipal services. The by-law states that any property with a building requiring water or wastewater servicing which fronts onto a road allowance with existing municipal services is required to connect within eighteen months of passing of the by-law.
