Citizen Appointments

Volunteer members are recruited by the City of Kawartha Lakes for a number of volunteer boards and committees. Applications are only accepted when a vacancy on a board or committee has been advertised. Each autumn an advertisement will appear in the local newspaper regarding upcoming positions available to residents to sit on various boards or committees. All residents are welcome to apply on the required form.

CITIZEN APPOINTMENTS

The citizen positions listed below provide City of Kawartha Lakes residents with an opportunity to volunteer their time, in various activities associated with local government, in an advisory capacity.

Applicant Eligibility:

  • an elector in the City of Kawartha Lakes
  • a Canadian citizen
  • 18 Years of Age or Older

Downtown Revitalization Advisory Committee

To provide advice and assistance to Council and the Manager of Economic Development, provide opportunities for communities to collaborate, and support the implementation of all Downtown Revitalization Action Plans.

The Committee shall be comprised of a maximum of nine (9) members; consisting of two (2) members from each community (Coboconk-Norland, Fenelon Falls, Lindsay and Omemee) and have served in the local downtown revitalization project. Committee to include at least one (1) representative from the following organizations:

  • Lindsay Downtown Business Improvement Association
  • Fenelon Falls and District Chamber of Commerce or Fenelon Forward
  • Coboconk, Norland and Area Chamber of Commerce
  • A representative from the downtown business community in Omemee

2 – for a three year term

 

City of Kawartha Lakes Liquidation Sales Task Force

To provide advice and recommendations to Staff on the issues surrounding Liquidation Sales and when and where this type of retail sales is appropriate in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

The Task Force shall have a minimum of four (4) members comprised of stakeholders, BIA and Lindsay and District Chamber of Commerce Representation, members of the public, and Council. Of the appointed membership, there shall be a minimum of:

  • One (1) member of City Council
  • One (1) member representing the Lindsay BIA
  • One member of the Lindsay and District Chamber of Commerce
  • At least one (1) member of the community that holds liquidation sales events

Term of approximately 3 months

 

 

 

Members of the public interested in serving on any of these Boards or Committees are asked to submit a “Citizen Appointment Application Form“, available at any Service Centre, City Hall or on the City’s website, along with supporting material, to the Clerk’s Department c/o Reception Desk, City Hall, 26 Francis Street, Lindsay, Ontario no later than 4:30 p.m. on July 28, 2017.
