The City of Kawartha Lakes has recognized the valuable resource it has with its residents and has tapped into this resource by providing opportunities for citizens to participate in various boards and committees.

Citizen Appointments
 
Agricultural Development Advisory Board
The Agriculture Development Advisory Board is a volunteer board appointed by City Council. ADAB will provide advice and assistance to Council and Economic development “to optimize economic opportunities available to and within the City by aggressively working towards the implementation of activities focused on the continued growth and prosperity of the rural areas and agricultural sector of the City of Kawartha Lakes.”
Bobcaygeon Legacy CHEST Fund
 
Burnt River Community Centre
To manage the Burnt River Community Centre facility with volunteers and in the most cost-effective way while maximizing community use of the facility and its surrounding lands.
Business Development Advisory Board
The Business Development Advisory Board is a volunteer committee appointed by City Council. BDAB will provide advice and assistance to Council and Economic Development "to optimize economic opportunities available to and within the City by aggressively working towards the implementation of activities focused on the continued growth and prosperity of the City of Kawartha Lakes.
Carden Community Centre Management Board
To manage the Carden Community Centre facility with volunteers and in the most cost-effective way while maximizing community use of the facility and it’s surrounding lands.
City of Kawartha Lakes Public Library Board
 
Coboconk Railway Station
To oversee and administer the continuing restoration of the Coboconk Railway Station as a heritage and cultural museum highlighting the significance of the Sheddon Area. To manage the Coboconk Railway Station facility with volunteers and in the most cost-effective way while maximizing community use of the facility and its surrounding lands.
Drainage Board
The Drainage Act, RSO 1990, Chapter D17 is a provincial statute which gives authority to the municipality to carry out procedures of the Act. Special legislation was passed granting authority for Council to establish a Drainage Board which would allow Council to delegate to the Board any of Council's powers and duties under the Drainage Act, except for Council's power to enact by-laws.
Economic Development Opportunities Committee
The Economic Development Opportunities Committee is a volunteer Committee appointed by City Council. EDOC will provide advice and assistance to Council and the Economic Development Department to help to "enhance the prosperity of the City of Kawartha Lakes by providing accessible, well-paying employment opportunities, through a diversified and enduring economy, that builds upon the past, while embracing the potential of the future.
Environmental Advisory Committee
The City of Kawartha Lakes is an “environment friendly community” and strives to offer services that strengthen and enhance the quality of life for all residents.
Heritage Victoria
The Kawartha Lakes Heritage Victoria is a volunteer committee appointed by Council to assist and provide guidance on community heritage matters. In particular, Heritage Victoria will review and establish criteria, and recommend candidate sites of historic value and interest for designation under the Ontario Heritage Act.
Kawartha Innovation Centre Board of Management
Kawartha Innovation Centre Board of Management is a volunteer committee appointed by City Council. KICBM will guide the operations of the Kawartha Innovation Centre such that it will be an efficient and effective operation.

Legacy CHEST Fund
To assist the primary Legacy C.H.E.S.T. Fund Committee in making recommendations to Council on the expenditure and/or investment of the C.H.E.S.T. Funds based upon input from the residents within the relevant geographic area of the municipality.

Lindsay Ops Landfill Public Review Committee
The Public Review Committee (PRC) shall serve as a focal point for dissemination, consultation, review and exchange of information regarding the operation of the Lindsay-Ops landfill site, including environmental monitoring, maintenance, complaint resolution, and new approvals or amendments to existing approvals related to the operation of the landfill site.
Tourism Advisory Board
The Tourism Advisory Board is a volunteer committee appointed by City Council. TAB will provide advice and assistance to Council and Economic Development "to optimize economic opportunities available to and within the City by aggressively working towards the implementation of activities focused on the continued growth and prosperity of the tourism sector of the City of Kawartha Lakes.
