Definition of Ward 14
In former Fenelon Township all land south of the Trent Canal between Lindsay and Bobcaygeon. In former Ops Township, land lying east of Post Road north of Traceys Hill Rd., land east of Highway 7 between concessions 7 and 8, and east of Hillhead Rd. south of Traceys Hill Rd. and north of Confederation and Crosswinds Roads. In former Emily Township, land north of and bounded on the south by Highway 7, west of Omemee, the village boundary to Sturgeon Rd. (County Rd. 7), north to Beaver Road and then east along Beaver Road to the Pigeon River and includes all land west of Pigeon Lake and River north of this line. In the village of Omemee it includes land north of Highway 7 (King St. W.) and west of Sturgeon Rd. N. (County Rd. 7).

Eminently qualified for the duties as a municipal councilor, Ronald Ashmore believes that one of the most important aspects of the job is the willingness and the ability to communicate. To be open and available to hear the concerns of local citizens is fundamental and essential if people’s concerns are to be taken back to council. In a day where we are relying on consultants to make our decisions, Ron believes that the ultimate consultant is the taxpayer. Not only do they have more practical and smart ideas but they certainly are more cost efficient.
As a candidate for council Ronald Ashmore has the integrity and sense of fairness to all citizens of Ward 14 and City of Kawartha Lakes. “We need solid and knowledgeable rural representation in our municipal council” says Ron Ashmore, “and this is what I have to offer to our community.” As a 5th generation farm business owner, Ron Ashmore has deep roots in the community. His family has represented the community for many generations.
Born March 21 1963, Ron grew up on the Ashmore Farm in North Emily. Attended primary school at Lady Eaton in Omemee (1969-1977). After finishing I.E. Weldon Secondary School (1977-1982) he obtained an associate diploma in agriculture business at the University of Guelph in 1984. Ron furthered his training with the successful completion of six MBA certified courses from Athabasca University. Ron participated in the International Agricultural Exchange Program in New Zealand in 1987 & 88. He purchased Ashmore Farms Ltd in 1989, a dairy and beef farm business farming land in Emily, Verulam and Ops townships.
Catherine, originally from Wellington New Zealand and Ron were married in 1991. They have four children, Charles, Michael, Nicholas & Jonathan. Ron has demonstrated his community awareness by his involvement as past chairman of the City of Kawartha Lakes Dairy Producer Committee, chair of Victoria County Agricultural Training Committee, member of local Farm Council and General Manager and Secretary Treasurer of the Salem Emily Cemetery.
He feels that agriculture’s historic links to municipal government need to be renewed by solid representation on local council. Given the large rural component of the amalgamated City of Kawartha Lakes, Ron Ashmore is convinced that a down to earth pragmatic vision can provide a useful viewpoint to the council. With an agricultural presence on council this can be a step forward to improving the communication to all of our citizens within Ward 14 and the City of Kawartha Lakes.
