Congratulatory Certificates

The City of Kawartha Lakes, through the Mayor’s Office, recognizes significant personal events and team/individual sports achievements.  The Mayor’s Office provides a certificate, signed by the Mayor, to those celebrating these significant milestones.

Please call Cheryl Bedard at 324-9411 Extension 1216 to arrange for these presentation items.  You can also email your request to –

What qualifies as a Significant Personal Event?

  • Birthday celebrations for 80 years of age and over, in ten year increments.
  • Marriage Anniversary celebrations for 50 years of marriage, 60 years of marriage and over, in five year increments.

What qualifies as a Significant Team/Individual Sports Achievement?

A significant team/individual sports achievement is when a local team or an individual has won a Provincial level award in their sport.

How can I receive a Congratulatory Certificate from the Mayor and Council for a significant Anniversary or Birthday?

The Mayor’s office should be contacted approximately 1 month prior to either a significant Anniversary or Birthday.

The information required includes

  • the name(s) of the recipient(s),
  • their address,
  • the date of the anniversary or birthday.

We also need the name, address and phone number of the requestor.  The Certificates can either be mailed to the requestor or picked up at the Mayor’s office during office hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)

This information can be called in to any of the Municipal Service Centres, the Mayor’s Executive Assistant or a request can be sent to the info line of the website.

Are Certificates given out to members of a team or an individual who has achieved important milestones?

The Mayor’s office should be contacted if a local team or an individual has won a Provincial or Federal level award in their sport.   Notification to the Mayor’s office should occur as soon as possible after the award has been received.

The information required includes:

  • the name(s) of each team member,
  • their address,
  • the particulars for the achievement (ex. OMHA All-Ontario Midget E Champions, Under 17 Rugby Provincial Champions, etc.)

We also need the name, address and phone number of the requestor so that appropriate arrangements can be made for presentation to the group.
