Notice of Adoption of City of Kawartha Lakes Official Plan

TAKE NOTICE THAT Council of the City of Kawartha Lakes, adopted the Draft Official Plan through the passing of By-law No. 2010-160 on the 21st day of September, 2010 under Section 17(22) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.P. 13, as amended.

AND TAKE NOTICE THAT pursuant to the provisions of Section 17(22 and 23) of the Planning Act, the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing is the Approval Authority for the City Of Kawartha Lakes Official Plan. Accordingly, the adopted Official Plan will now be forwarded to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing for final approval. Any individual, corporation or public body having comments or concerns with the adopted Official Plan, or who wish to be notified of the Ministerial approval of the Official Plan may provide written notice to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Enquiries may be directed to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Municipal Services Office – East, 8 Estate Lane, Rockwood House, Kingston, Ontario  K7M 9A8.

AND TAKE NOTICE THAT pursuant to the provisions of Section 17(36) of the Planning Act, any individual, corporation or public body who made oral submissions at the public meeting or made written submissions to the City before the Official Plan was adopted may appeal the final approval of the Official Plan by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing to the Ontario Municipal Board by filing a Notice of Appeal setting out written reasons in support of the appeal.

THE PURPOSE AND EFFECT OF BY-LAW NUMBER 2010-160

The adopted Official Plan contains policies that guide the development of the City of Kawartha Lakes while conserving resources and protecting the environment. Policies are included that protect the City’s important environmental features and functions, and address development in agricultural, hamlet, rural and waterfront areas. The proposed Official Plan focuses on the areas of the City located outside of designated urban settlements. The detailed policy formation for designated urban areas is ongoing and will be subject to subsequent Secondary Planning Exercises.
