Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay
TORCHBEARER ROUTE
On Wednesday December 16th 2009 the Olympic Torch Relay will enter the City of Kawartha Lakes at the intersection of Hwy #7 and Hwy #28 and travel west to the village of Omemee. At approximately 10:30 a.m. a torch bearer will carry the torch through the village, the runner will end at approximately 11:00 am at the west end of the village. The convoy will then continue west on Hwy #7 to the Town of Lindsay.
Torch bearers will continue the Olympic flame run at approximately 11:10 am from Cty Rd #36 and Parkside Drive to Queen Street; west bound to Wellington Street, then to William Street; north bound to Colborne Street West where it travels west to Angeline Street North then south bound to Kent Street West; east to the Celebration Site at the intersection of Victoria Ave N and Kent St W in Lindsay’s downtown arriving at 12 noon. The Olympic Torch will light a cauldron, located on a stage provided and set up by VANOC. Stage will be facing west on Kent Street West, just east of the intersection of Victoria Avenue.
At the completion of the events approximately 1:05 pm a torchbearer will depart from the stage with the lit torch and will run west to the intersection of Sussex Street, join the convoy, travel south on Sussex St to Russell Street West, east two blocks to Cambridge Street South, north one block to Kent Street then east along Kent St. W, then south on Lindsay Street South to Russell Street where the torch bearer’s run ends.
The convoy will travel southbound on Lindsay Street to Highway #35S and then south to the City of Kawartha Lakes boundary, where it will then enter the regional municipality of Durham.
