January 12, 2012 - Parks, Recreation and Culture is pleased to offer a second Backyard Astronomy class starting in February at the Bobcaygeon Community Centre Hall.

John Crossen from the Buckhorn Observatory will introduce you to the basics of observing, choosing equipment and site selection.  You will also learn to identify constellations, planets, star clusters and distant galaxies in the night sky.  Each class will involve classroom discussions, DVD presentations, laptop planetarium shows, star charts and more.  As often as weather permits, outdoor observation will take place.  The final class will take place at the Buckhorn Observatory.  No equipment required.

The course is scheduled for Thursday evenings from 8:00-9:30 pm, February 2 – March 22, 2012 in the upstairs hall at the Bobcaygeon Service Centre.

For more information on the program or to register, please contact the Parks, Recreation & Culture office at 50 Wolfe Street in Lindsay or by calling 705-324-9411 ext. 1335 or 1306 or email communitydevelopment@city.kawarthalakes.on.ca.
