Awards Presentation for 2014 Christmas in Kawartha Lakes Window Decorating Contest

February 5, 2015 - The winners of the first annual Christmas in Kawartha Lakes Christmas Storefront and Window Decorating Contest, will be presented with their awards on February 12th.

The Storefront and Window Decorating Contest was part of the Economic Development department’s first “Christmas in Kawartha Lakes” initiative, which was introduced to help foster holiday spirit, encourage people to visit the downtown areas and vote for their favourite windows. All businesses or organizations operating in public buildings were eligible to participate by creating an original window display that depicted the traditions, stories or festivities of the Christmas season.

Winners of the contest were selected in three categories. Fobert Memorial Pool / Bobcaygeon Public School won the Community Choice Award, Grr8 Finds Markets in Fenelon Falls won the Children’s Choice Award, and Job Quest, in Lindsay won the Participant’s Choice Award.

The winners will receive hand-made ceramic plaques created by local ceramic artist Lucia McHardy, that feature an image of their winning window. Mayor Andy Letham will present the awards to 2014 contest winners at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, February 12th in the Victoria Room, City Hall in Lindsay. Everyone is welcome to attend.
