Burnt River water levels receding

March 19, 2012 - The water level on the Burnt River has risen over the past few days but officials say it has peaked and is now starting on a downward curve.

The river appears to have crested late on Sunday and water levels are now decreasing. With warm dry weather predicted for the rest of the week, officials are optimistic that the worst is over for this year.

The Burnt River is regularly monitored for flood risk by Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), Trent Severn Waterway (TSW) and the City of Kawartha Lakes.
