Christmas comes to Victoria Manor
“This is a wonderful initiative to help provide a Christmas to some of our residents who may not have much family involvement,” explained Holly Speedie, Manager of Resident and Family Services at Victoria Manor. “We are thrilled that ReMax All Stars Realty has decided to bring this initiative to our residents.”
Jami Joy, a sales representative with ReMax said the idea came about after seeing the positive impacts on a similar program in the United States.
“I thought of the idea as I was watching the news and I saw that a community in the States were doing this by placing names on a Christmas tree and staff members of a business choose a name to be the Santa for that senior,” she explained. “To me personally it really made me want to do this in my community which is filled with seniors and be Santa for them.”
Ms. Joy presented the idea at a network meeting involving her colleges and the decision was made to support seniors at Victoria Manor for Christmas.
Staff at Victoria Manor provided a list of names and gift suggestions to Ms. Joy and her colleagues and on Monday afternoon, December 14 the ‘Santa’s’ made a special delivery to Victoria Manor.
Joining Ms. Joy at Victoria Manor was Joe Bewley, Colette LaCourse and John Pollard.
“This has been a very positive and rewarding initiative between ReMax and Victoria Manor and it has definitely ensured the Christmas spirit is alive and well for our residents and our staff,” said Ms. Speedie.
Residents at Victoria Manor in Lindsay received gifts from the staff at ReMax All Stars Realty Inc. Brokerage. From left, front row, residents Betty Stewart, Katherine Morrison and Marg Hancock and back row at right Herb Easton were on hand to receive the gifts as part of the Santa to a Senior initiative.
