City holding public meetings for Streetscape and Façade Design Guidelines

January 4, 2016 - Residents and business owners in Coboconk, Norland, Fenelon Falls and Lindsay will have an opportunity to see the newly prepared Streetscape and Façade Design Guidelines as part of the City’s Downtown Revitalization project in Kawartha Lakes.

The Streetscape and Façade Design Guidelines were developed following a series of design workshops and feedback on the draft guidelines by each community’s Advisory Committee.

Prior to the final Streetscape and Façade Design Guidelines being present to Council, the public will have a chance to see the Guidelines first hand at a number of public meetings.

“Residents, business owners, visitors and the community at large all benefit from healthy, vibrant downtowns,” said Economic Development Officer Vaughn Finch.  “Downtown revitalization focuses on managing and improving the economic, physical and social well-being of a community's traditional town centre.”

Mr. Finch explained creating enjoyable yet functional public streets and spaces while maintaining cohesive and aesthetically pleasing facades is critical to downtown revitalization.

“We really want the communities to come out to the meetings to see and comment on the Guidelines, the results of their countless hours of input and feedback, before they are presented to Council,” he said.
