City of Kawartha Lakes communities receive Canada Day funding

April 13, 2016 - The City of Kawartha Lakes’ Community Services, Parks, Recreation & Culture Division is pleased to announce it will provide a total of $10,000 in Canada Day funding to seven communities celebrating Canada Day in the City of Kawartha Lakes. This funding is in addition to the $27,200 received in support from the federal government through the Canadian Heritage Celebrate Canada program.

The following communities will receive funding for their 2016 Canada Day celebrations: Lindsay, Bobcaygeon, Fenelon Falls, and Kinmount Canada Day Committees, the Omemee Lions Club and the Oakwood and Norland Firefighters Associations. The funding will be applied toward the cost of various aspects of these events including fireworks, entertainment, promotional and logistic event related expenses.

The Celebrate Canada program encourages community members of all ages to come together at planned festivities to appreciate the wealth and diversity of Canadian society and to show our Canadian pride.

These fun and accessible community events would not be possible without the generous support of the Canadian Heritage Celebrate Canada program, the City of Kawartha Lakes and numerous community members and volunteers.
