Council approves $761,516 investment in Mariposa Estates water system

November 24, 2015 - Council has approved a $761,516 investment to replace approximately 1.3 kilometres of watermain as part of the Mariposa Estates Distribution System.

The City has a lifecycle watermain replacement program that is committed to replacing those watermains that are undersized and do not meet current design standards.

The existing watermains along Sun Valley Road, from Nonquon Drive to Cedar Ridge Drive as well as Nonquon Drive and Cedar Ridge Drive, will be replaced with larger 150mm PVC watermains. The project will also include the replacement of water services to each resident from the watermain to property line and all restoration to existing or better condition.

“This is a much-needed project to help bring the Mariposa Estates Distribution System up to municipal standards,” said Amber Hayter, supervisor of Environmental Services for the City.

The project is expected to begin in January, weather depending, and be completed by June 30, 2016.
