Council approves zoning amendment for Walmart

May 25, 2016 - At today’s Council meeting, City of Kawartha Lakes Council approved the zoning amendment brought forward by the Planning Committee on May 11, 2016. The zoning accommodates Walmart’s request for additional grocery space for their proposed Lindsay store.

Today’s decision paves the way for Mason Homes to prepare the site and allow Fieldgate Development to proceed with construction of the Walmart store. Mason Homes will develop residential homes in the vicinity. Detailed planning with both of these developers is ongoing.

“I’m very pleased that Council approved the zoning amendment application to accommodate Walmart.  We know this will lead to attracting new jobs and further development in the northwest area of Lindsay,” comments Mayor Andy Letham.
