Farewell and thank you to Don Young, Paramedic

April 7, 2017 - Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Service said goodbye to one of its longest serving paramedics this week.

Don Young began as a paramedic in the late 1970’s and his career spanned 5 decades.

He received the Governor General’s Exemplary Service medal (Federal Recognition) in 2009.

“His care, enthusiasm and influence on paramedicine will extend well beyond his years in service. Don mentored countless paramedic students and new partners on the human aspect of being a paramedic. Don taught all of us how to remain calm and always look at the bright side of life. It is hard to imagine Don without seeing his warm smile and laugh. He brought that warmth to work with him every day. We will miss him very much and wish him the very best in his retirement,” remarked Keith Kirkpatrick, Paramedic Chief.
