Help keep our City beautiful!

March 26, 2015 - Spring is upon us once again! To celebrate, the City of Kawartha Lakes is encouraging residents to sign up for the annual 20-Minute Community Clean-Up (formerly the 20-Minute Makeover). The 20-Minute Community Clean-Up is a self-directed garbage pick-up in your neighbourhood or local park during Earth Week, April 19 – 25.

Whether in a group or going solo, residents are invited to register through the Waste and Recycling section of the City of Kawartha Lakes website or pick up a registration form at their nearest Municipal Service Centre. Staff will then contact group representatives, and efforts will be made to provide garbage collection teams with gloves, bags, and other materials. (The deadline for group registration is April 15.) Afterwards, we’ll gather tallies together and share our efforts and experiences with our community.

“There’s definitely something in the air at this time of year,” said Jackie Donaldson, Public Education Officer for the City of Kawartha Lakes Waste and Recycling Program. “We all have a spring in our step and a desire to get outside. A community clean-up is a fun way to gather together, capture that energy, and get active for our City!”

For more information visit the Waste and Recycling section of the City of Kawartha Lakes website or call 705-324-9411, ext. 1158.
