Help support two great causes at Paramedics in the Park Friday, May 29

May 20, 2015 - In celebration of Paramedic Week May 24-30, the Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Service is hosting the always-popular Paramedics in the Park event on Friday, May 29 in Victoria Park.

“This event is a great opportunity to come out and meet many of our paramedic and emergency services staff,” said Paramedic Chief Keith Kirkpatrick.

From 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. get a burger, sausage or hot dog meal for $5. All funds raised support the Critical Incident Stress Volunteer Peer Support Team and the Paramedic Honour Guard.

“We always have a really good turnout and great support from the community,” said Chief Kirkpatrick. “This is our way of giving back to our community, raising money for some great causes, and interacting with everyone.”

The event also features a number of displays and demonstrations all in support of this year’s Paramedic Week theme – “Paramedics: Expanding Care”.

Over 200 school children are anticipated to take part in interactive learning stations provided by the City’s allied emergency service friends. They will learn about CPR and defibrillators, how to call 9-1-1, bike & helmet safety, boating & ATV safety, hand washing & infection control, fire prevention and an ambulance tour.

“We’re looking forward to seeing everyone again this year, so please come out get a great lunch deal and support two wonderful causes,” said Chief Kirkpatrick.
