Introduction to Home Vegetable & Herb Gardening Workshop

April 30, 2015 - Kawartha Lakes Public Library is pleased to partner with the Lindsay & District Master Gardeners as they present the workshop an “Introduction to Home Vegetable & Herb Gardening.” This workshop will be held at the Lindsay Branch Library on Saturday, May 16 and Saturday, May 23 (same presentation on both days) from 10:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Master Gardeners of Ontario Inc. is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to helping home gardeners.  Master Gardeners (MGs) in the Province of Ontario are experienced gardeners who have studied horticulture extensively and continue to upgrade their skills through technical training. With this training and continuing education, Master Gardeners provide expert horticultural advice to the general public.

This workshop will cover all the basics: why grow your own, where to grow, what to grow, how to grow and gardening resources. Intended for gardening novices, this presentation is also a useful refresher for more experienced gardeners and an opportunity for participants to ask all their gardening questions.

Preregistration is encouraged.  Call 705-324-5632 or drop in to the Lindsay Branch Library.  The first 30 registrants for each workshop will receive a free starter kit that will include 2 seed packets from Cottage Gardeners, an heirloom tomato seedling and a handful of onion sets.  You must be present at the workshop to receive your free kit.

Support for these presentations comes from HKPR Health Unit’s Healthy Communities Fund and Kawartha Lakes Food Coalition.
