January 26, 2016 - As the Director of Planning with the Town of Gibsons, British Columbia, Chris Marshall was instrumental in transforming the town into one of the most sustainable communities in the world.

The progressive sustainable plans and infrastructural design guidelines Mr. Marshall helped put in place that made Gibsons global leaders resulted in the town winning the titles of Most Liveable Community in the World for communities under 20,000 and Planning for the Future, as part of the United Nations-sponsored Liveable Community competition.

On Monday, January 25, Mr. Marshall joined the City of Kawartha Lakes as the new Director of Development Services.

“Mr. Marshall brings a tremendous wealth of knowledge and insight with more than 20 years of professional planning experience to his new role with the City,” said CAO Ron Taylor.

Following 12 years with the Town of Gibsons, Mr. Marshall joined the Town of Huntsville as Manager of Planning and Sustainability where he has served the community for the past five years.

Mr. Taylor noted that as a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and a Master of Urban Planning, the new Director will be a strong addition of the City’s Senior Management Team.

“We are very fortunate to have Mr. Marshall join our team here at the City and we are looking forward to his forward-thinking and innovative leadership in planning, sustainability and best practices as we move Kawartha Lakes forward,” Mr. Taylor said.
