Kawartha Lakes City Hall promoting local artists

October 7, 2015 - LINDSAY – New displays on the walls in City Hall are drawing attention to the work of local artists and celebrating the wealth of artistic talent across Kawartha Lakes.

“We wanted to brighten up the walls for staff, residents, business people and visitors coming into City Hall,” explained Kawartha Lakes Mayor Andy Letham. “We thought this would be a great way to help local artists showcase their work while also making City Hall a more inviting and appealing place to come to.”

The initiative began in August with a display by local photographer Barb Callander. Beginning October 8, local oil painter and City process improvement facilitator Brenda Stonehouse will have a series of works on display.

Each artist will have an opportunity to display their work for about a month and all works will appear on the ground floor.

“I hope that people coming into City Hall will enjoy and appreciate the displays and talents of our many local artists,” said Mayor Letham. “There is much to be proud of in Kawartha Lakes and our wealth of artistic talent is definitely among them.”

Kawartha Lakes-based artists and photographers interested in showing their works at City Hall are encouraged to contact Andrea Walders by email at
