Kawartha Lakes Public Library offers vegetable and herb gardening workshops
The workshops will cover gardening basics including: why grow your own, where to grow, what to grow, how to grow and gardening resources. Intended for gardening novices, this presentation is also a useful refresher for more experienced gardeners and an opportunity for participants to ask gardening questions.
Pre-registration is encouraged by calling 705-324-5632 or visit the Lindsay Branch Library to reserve your place. The first 30 registrants for each workshop will receive a free starter kit that will include: 2 seed packets, an heirloom tomato seedling and a handful of onion sets. You must be present at the workshop to receive your free kit.
Master Gardeners of Ontario Inc. is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to helping home gardeners. Master Gardeners (MGs) in the Province of Ontario are experienced gardeners who have studied horticulture extensively and continue to upgrade their skills through technical training. With this training and continuing education, Master Gardeners provide expert horticultural advice to the general public.
Support for these presentations comes from HKPR Health Unit’s Healthy Communities Fund and Kawartha Lakes Food Coalition.
The Seed Lending Library, a free community project which encourages residents to grow their own vegetables and fruits, save the seeds and then share the seeds with others, continues at the Library. We are pleased to accept seed donations for the spring planting season at the Children’s Services counter in the Lindsay Library.
