Kawartha Lakes Tourism launches ‘Your Story’ marketing campaign

March 19, 2015 - Everyone has a story to tell and Kawartha Lakes’ Tourism office wants to hear all of them for an innovative marketing project aimed at emphasizing the personal stories behind local businesses, restaurants and attractions.

“There are so many wonderful stories and personal insights into our local businesses and we want to share them with the world,” explained Tourism Development Officer Ashley Webster. “These stories will be the basis for a multi-channel campaign promoting businesses and attractions throughout Kawartha Lakes.”

The Tourism department will be using submitted stories to engage potential visitors through a dedicated web page as well as through a comprehensive social media campaign utilizing the department’s broad Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram channels.

“Through our social media platforms we have an opportunity to reach hundreds of thousands of people outside of our community and market Kawartha Lakes through these wonderful personal stories,” said Ms. Webster. “The ‘Your Story’ campaign is about creating personal connections and exciting the sense of our potential visitors to sights, sounds, tastes and experiences that await them when they are here.”

All businesses, restaurants and attractions within Kawartha Lakes are invited to submit a one paragraph ‘story’ highlighting an area that might be of interest to potential visitors. Submissions can be sent to Ashley Webster via email at
