January 21, 2010 - With over 125 advertisers, Kawartha Seasons 2010 acts as a lure or new and repeat visitors and a source of useful and interesting information for local residents.

Plan to get away close to home this year. Whether it’s something fun, relaxing, romantic or more adventurous, Kawartha Lakes offer all the ingredients for a complete getaway to suit your taste. From cruising, dining and theatre to spectacular outdoor adventures and scenic routes, Kawartha Seasons 2010 is your guide to an ideal get away plan. Take the time to travel around our communities’ downtowns, back roads and waterways of Kawartha Lakes. Try the suggested driving tours covering different parts of the area, taking visitors through historic sites and some of our most scenic countryside. As the official guide to Kawartha Lakes, this travel digest will attract your attention and lead you to find out more on the new tourism website at www.explorekawarthalakes.com.

As a picturesque display of Kawartha Lakes at its best, it is used as a year round source of information. “Residents will enjoy seeing spots they may not have known about, and visitors will find the driving, walking and boating tours are wonderful ways to experience our natural beauty,” says Margaret Cunningham, Tourism Officer for the City of Kawartha Lakes. In its new horizontal format, it is a handy and informative guide, to share with friends and family. An appealing colourful showcase of our history and heritage, natural attractions and tourism venues, this 80 page glossy digest booklet very effectively represents our beautiful tourist destination.

Anyone looking for information on where to stay, where to dock a boat or go swimming, what museums and galleries to visit, what to do on a night out, where to have a picnic and everything else Kawartha Lakes has to offer will find plenty to interest them in the free companion publication, the Kawartha Lakes Map and Events Guide, published every year. This map includes what to see and do with dates and locations of events and activities going on throughout the seasons.

Within the next few weeks, the Kawartha Seasons distribution of 80,000 will begin throughout Ontario and a number of U.S. border states with the intention of promoting Kawartha Lakes as a preferred destination for a short visit, a long stay or a permanent relocation. Over 35,000 will be distributed in and around Kawartha Lakes, including one delivered directly to every Kawartha Lakes’ household. An additional 30,000 will be distributed throughout the GTA and the 401 corridor at tourist information centres and CAA locations. Remaining copies will be distributed by local chambers of commerce, at consumer shows and the Tourism Office for inquiry fulfillment received by telephone or online.

The household delivery within the City of Kawartha Lakes will take place on Thursday January 28, with a follow up distribution to seasonal residents starting in May in partnership with Kawartha Lakes This Week and their immense network of carriers. Please make sure to check your mailbox for your free copy of Kawartha Seasons 2010. Every effort is being made to reach all residents directly. In cooperation with Kawartha Lakes This Week, a response mechanism is in place to ensure that every permanent and seasonal Kawartha Lakes household receives a copy.
