May 18, 2012 - The City of Kawartha Lakes Public Library is pleased to partner with the Humane Society for the 10th Annual “Tails in the Park” Dog Walkathon & First Annual Festival on Sunday, June 10th 2012 at the Ken Reid Conservation Area.

Children aged 12 years and under are invited to enter the Library’s “Dog Colouring Contest”. Pick up a coloring sheet at your local library branch and enter for the draw for a chance to win one of the great prizes donated by Crayola Canada and the Humane Society.  The deadline for entries is June 1st . The winners’ entries will be displayed at the Festival on June 10th.

Enter the Library’s “Count the Dog Treats Contest”. If you can correctly guess the number of dog treats in the jar at your local library, you could win the dog treats to give to your furry friend and a special treat for yourself compliments of Kawartha Dairy.

Donna Ludgate, from the Humane Society, will be at the Lindsay Library on Tuesday, June 5 at 6:30 to talk about pet care. Drop by and learn more about your pet and the work of the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes.

The Library has lots of books and dvds to help you learn more about your special friend.  Your library card gives you free access to e-books, books, and dvds on pet care, dogs, and dog training.  You can visit the Library’s online catalogue at
