Notice of Watermain Flushing
The City of Kawartha Lakes wishes to inform the residents of Lindsay that Water and Wastewater Division Distribution Staff will be flushing watermains starting Sunday, September 18, 2016 and will continue until November 11, 2016. Cleaning will take place nightly from 8pm-6am and daily from 7am to 5pm.
The flushing of watermains is necessary to remove sediment that gradually deposit in the pipes. Residents may notice a discolouration of the water at their homes during this period and for a short time thereafter. If you notice any discolouration of your tap water, simply run your cold water tap until the water flows clear. This discolouration is not hazardous to your health. It is typical of a normal operating water distribution system. Please also check your drinking, cooking and laundry water before using. Residents may also notice temporary pressure fluctuations during flushing.
The City of Kawartha Lakes wishes to remind residents that Phase I Water Restrictions remain in effect until watershed conditions specifically areas in Lake Scugog improve. Although the area surrounding Lindsay remains at a Low Water Condition Level 2, portions of the Township of Scugog still remain at a Low Water Condition Level 3. In order to help improve water level conditions, both the City of Kawartha Lakes and Kawartha Water Response Team continue to encourage all water users to conserve water by reducing non-essential uses.
The City of Kawartha Lakes thanks you for your co-operation during the flushing program. Follow us on Twitter @CKL_WandWW for the most recent updates.
