Provincial Government approves five more $5000 grant opportunities for Youth Businesses in Kawartha Lakes

July 7, 2015 - The Kawartha Lakes Small Business & Entrepreneurship Centre (KLSBEC) is pleased to announce the Province of Ontario, through the Ministry of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure, has allocated five new $5000 grant opportunities to the KLSBEC Starter Company Program in 2015/2016, bringing the total number of grants available to 16. This is fantastic news for young entrepreneurs, ages 18 to 29, who plan to start or expand a small business through the Starter Company Program.

In addition to grant money, the Starter Company Program provides opportunities for young entrepreneurs to acquire training and mentoring to help them start or expand new businesses.

“We are thrilled to be the recipients of 5 more grants to the KLSBEC Starter Company Program,” said Karyn Dowdall, Youth Program Coordinator, KLSBEC. “Since November, seven participants have successfully applied for the grant money and moved through the various phases of the program. We can now invite more young people to meet with us, and to find out how to get involved with this amazing program.”

Congratulations to Starter Company participants Jaclyn Giffen, from Giffen Professional Legal Corporation and Mallory Hawkins from Mallory Hawkins Photography, the most recent participants to successfully apply for the Starter Company Grant. These young entrepreneurs are building the future for our community.
