Renovations at Lindsay Recreation Complex begin
March 4, 2010 - With excitement and anticipation the City of Kawartha Lakes is commencing on several months of renovations to the Lindsay Recreation Complex. The pool side of the building was originally opened in 1977 and the renovations will bring the most extensive change to the facility since the addition of the arena side over 20 years ago.
Some features of the renovation and construction are:
- a new family and barrier free change area
- a revised and expanded entry, main lobby and traffic control area
- relocated staff areas at both pool and arena side
- relocation of the fitness program area
- a new two storey workout centre with weight room and cardio area
“We plan to maintain public use of the facility for as much of the renovations as is safe and feasible,” said Manager of Parks, Recreation & Culture Craig Shanks. “However there are periods of time throughout construction when we will need to shut down certain areas.” The concession stand and the pool areas are the first to be affected.
The pool and change room areas will be closed at 6 pm on Friday, March 12 with Public Access and Scheduling resuming Monday, April 12. The front lobby (existing canteen and hall of fame space) will be implementing construction in early March and will be non-accessible for a period of time. Please watch the City website and on-site signage for further details.
Throughout construction regular updates will be available for our patrons and the public via our website at www.city.kawathalakes.on.ca and within the facility. We ask your cooperation and understanding as our spaces are re-worked.
