Sidewalk construction set to begin in May

April 14, 2015 - Council has approved an investment of nearly $300,000 to improve sidewalks in Coboconk, Lindsay, Bethany and Fenelon Falls beginning in May.

The two-month project will include the construction of concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters in four communities.

“As a result of the 2014 sidewalk inspections by City staff, 12 road sections in four communities throughout Kawartha Lakes were identified as areas for the removal and or replacement of sidewalks,” explained Corby Purdy, Supervisor of Infrastructure and Design.

The work is scheduled to commence May 1, 2015 and wrap up by the middle of June.

The following is a list of where the work will take place.


Highway 35 North (East Side) – Grandy Street to CKL Road #46

Highway 35 North (West Side) – Grandy Street to Ball Park

Highway 35 North (West Side) – South Water Street to Nightingale Road


Kent Street (South Side) – Boston Pizza Entrance to 40m West

Cambridge Street South (East Side) – Russell Street to Glenelg Street

Russell Street (South Side) – William Street to Lindsay Street

Russell Street (South Side) – Georgian Street to Water Street


Robert Street (West Side) – Highway 7A to Dead End

Highway 7A (South Side) – Robert Street to Wilson Street

Wilson Street (West Side) – George Street to Gore Street

Fenelon Falls

Bond Street (South Side) – Colborne Street to 45 m West

Bon Street (South Side) – John Street to 102m West

Council awarded the $286,761.23 tender during their regular Council meeting Tuesday, April 14.
