February 17, 2010 - The City of Kawartha Lakes, Parks, Recreation and Culture Division has a few things happening this March and staff members are encouraging you to get involved.

On Tuesday, March 2nd at the Fenelon Township Community Centre in Cambray members of the community can come out for a fun night of laughs and exercise while trying Country Line Dancing for FREE!  This FREE trial is being offered from 7:00-8:30pm.  Please call 324-9411 ext. 1306 to put your name on the list.

“Currently we offer 5 classes per session throughout the community. We always have an overwhelming response, and participants keep coming back session after session,” says Alison McGahey, Community Development Coordinator.

New for the spring session participants will be able to pay as they go for this program.  A fee of $7.00 will be charged for those who wish to pay as they dance or $60.00 (plus tax) for the 8 week session.

Also in Lindsay on Thursday evenings the city offers badminton for a low cost of $3.00 per play.  “This program has really taken off this year,” says Alison McGahey. On average there are 30 participants who continue to come out and play recreational badminton each week.  Located at the Victoria Park Armoury, there are 6 courts always in action.

McGahey is encouraging you to Spring Into Action This March and join in on the fun!

For more information on either of these programs or for a badminton schedule please contact Alison McGahey at 705-324-9411 ext. 1306 or amcgahey@city.kawarthalakes.on.ca.
