Statement from Mayor Andy Letham on police apprehension of Lindsay shooter
A 46 year old Lindsay resident was shot twice by, at the time, an unknown perpetrator. The incident left many of us questioning how something like this could happen in Lindsay or Kawartha Lakes.
It is a question not easily answered.
Today however, I would like to personally thank our Kawartha Lakes Police Service, Chief John Hagarty and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Forensic Identification Unit, Underwater Search & Recovery Unit and ground search teams for your tireless work over the last few days to bring the perpetrator to justice.
Your rapid response and multi-agency collaboration resulted in a dangerous individual being apprehended and taken off our streets.
Too often, we don’t take the time to say thank you to those individuals who put their lives on the line every day to protect our citizens and our communities.
And so today, I offer my sincere thanks and gratitude to all of our law enforcement and emergency services personnel.
To the victim of last Thursday’s shooting and his family, you have the thoughts and prayers of an entire community for your speedy recovery.
Mayor Andy Letham
