Ten new student-run businesses launched through Summer Company program
“The Summer Company program offers students aged 15-29 training, mentorship support and the opportunity to receive up to $3,000 to kick start a summer business,” explains Diane Steven, Manager, Kawartha Lakes Small Business & Entrepreneurship Centre. “This summer we have an enthusiastic group of young entrepreneurs operating new businesses in Kawartha Lakes and surrounding areas. It hasn’t been easy, especially with extreme heat this summer, but each have found ways to grow their business in a very short period of time.”
The key component of the program is the mentor-participant connection. Students learn from mentors who have real business experience and are successful business professionals from the community. KLSBEC is currently seeking mentors from a variety of business backgrounds to join the mentor team.
