Ward 12 Councillor re-elected Chair of Police Services Board
“I am grateful and honoured for the re-appointment to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service Board by Mayor Andy Letham as Council’s representative and to the Board for their support and endorsement by re-electing me as their Chair.”
Councillor James has been a member of the Kawartha Lakes Police Services Board for the past eight years, serving as Chair for the past four.
“I view this as an opportunity to continue with our work as a progressive Board,” said Coun. James.
The Ward 12 Councillor noted 2015 will be a busy year for the Board but he is looking forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead.
“Starting with appointments to our Joint Health and Safety Committee initiative and implementing the new National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the workplace with a focus on PTSD, this is going to be a busy year for the Board,” said Coun. James.
The Board will also focus on implementing a new CEW policy, implementing recommendations from the community survey's focus on community safety and crime prevention, provincial co-coordinated bargaining opportunities, new contract negotiations, new Board member training commitments and the KLPSB request for the removal or recording of offenses committed at Central East Correctional Centre by Statistics Canada being included with our community violations in their recording and reporting system.
“We have a lot to accomplish in 2015,” said Coun. James. “I am looking forward to working with the Board and excited for the opportunities to continue moving forward this year.”
