Watermain or Water Meter Inspector NOT Affiliated with the City

October 20, 2015 - The City of Kawartha Lakes has been notified by several concerned residents individuals claiming to be City employees are currently going door to door attempting to gain access to homes in the area to check the water meter. Please be advised that this individual is not affiliated with the Public Works Water and Wastewater division and are not employed by the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Residents should be cautious about allowing strangers access to their homes and should scrutinize any Photo ID carefully. Also, check for City of Kawartha Lakes vehicles parked in the area to confirm the person is representing the City. When in doubt please contact the City of Kawartha Lakes Water and Wastewater Division.

Periodically, the City of Kawartha Lakes conducts lead sampling at private residences. When lead testing is undertaken, notification regarding lead testing is posted on the City’s website. There is no lead testing currently being conducted anywhere within the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Residents are urged to contact police regarding any aggressive, bold or persistent individuals who try to gain access to their home claiming to be a City employee.
