Policies to Conform to the Growth Plan
In response to the Provincial Places to Grow Act (2005) and the Provincial Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, the City has initiated and prepared draft polices to reflect the requirements of this legislation. Currently, there are four Official Plans in effect in the City - County of Victoria, Village of Fenelon Falls, Town of Lindsay and Township of Ops. The Places to Grow Act requires the City of Kawartha Lakes to amend its Official Plans to conform to the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe by June 16, 2009.
The purpose of the amendments to the County of Victoria, Village of Fenelon Falls, Township of OPS and the Town of Lindsay Official Plans is to incorporate changes resulting from a review of the Official Plans that were initiated in response to the requirement of conformity with the Places to Grow Act and the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe.
The effect of these amendments to the Official Plans is to have policies which conform to the Places to Grow Act and the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe.
The land affected by the proposed official plan amendments covers the entire City as each of the four existing Official Plans are proposed to be amended.
Take Notice that the Planning Committee, on behalf of the Council of the City of Kawartha Lakes, will hold a Public Meeting on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 10:00am in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 26 Francis St., Lindsay.
The proposed amendments to the four Official Plans are available as follows:

- At the Development Services - Planning Division, Lindsay Service Centre, 2nd Floor, 180 Kent Street West, Lindsay. A paper copy is available at a cost of $35.00 or a cd of the document is available at a cost of $5.00. These documents can also be shipped at an additional cost. The contact information is provided below.
Additional Information relating to the proposed Official Plan amendments, being a copy of the proposed amendments, is available for inspection at the Development Services - Planning Division, Lindsay Service Centre, 2nd Floor, 180 Kent Street West, Lindsay, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday, excluding holidays.

Any Person May Attend the Public Meeting and/or make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed amendments to the Official Plans. At the public meeting, presentations that would take longer than five minutes should be presented in written form and summarized orally. All written submissions received prior to June 10, 2009 or comments or submission made at the Public Meeting will be considered.
If You Wish to Be Notified of the Recommendation and/or the Decision in respect of this matter, you must submit your written request no later than June 10, 2009 to the address provided below. Please provide your name, address and postal code either on the appropriate form at the Public Meeting or by mailing such request to the address provided below.
If a person or public body that files a notice of appeal of a decision in respect of the proposed Official Plan does not make oral submissions at the public meeting or make written submissions to the City before the proposed Official Plan is approved or refused, the Ontario Municipal Board may dismiss all or part of the appeal.
