Community Social Investment Fund

— filed under:

The Community Social Investment Fund (CSIF) was established in 2008 by the City of Kawartha Lakes and County of Haliburton to support programs and services that address poverty related issues in the community.  Program funding was derived from the municipal savings that resulted from the restructuring of social assistance in 2008.  As the Consolidated Municipal Service Manager for the delivery of Social Services for both municipalities, the City of Kawartha Lakes administers these programs in the County of Haliburton as well.

CSIF funding is currently used to support a variety of community-based programs including food security, tutoring, School’s Cool, Utility Arrears, Rapid Crisis Response and Stabilization, Identification Clinic, Youth in Transition, Community Support Program and after-school and summer recreation programs.

Social Services also directly administers a Recreation Activity Supports Program that provides assistance for children in low income families to participate in various recreation activities.  Further information is available by calling 705-324-9870 ext. 3251 and by opening the following PDF file.
