Vision & Mission
VISION:
Our vision is of communities across the City of Kawartha Lakes and the County of Haliburton with good, quality affordable housing and support services for all.
MISSION:
The K.L.H.H.C., a local housing corporation and non-profit housing provider under the Social Housing Reform Act, provides good, quality, safe, accessible, sustainable and affordable housing for low income households in the City of Kawartha Lakes and the County of Haliburton, including people with special physical, developmental and psychological needs. In cooperation with other agencies, we strive to ensure our tenants receive, from the human services system, the services they need to foster good health and well-being.
VALUES AND COMMITMENTS:
Our foremost commitment is to our tenants, to whom we will provide good quality, affordable housing. In doing so, we will recognize and respect the diversity of our communities and the people we serve. We will treat our tenants with dignity and respect, and will provide timely and effective responses to their concerns. We will provide opportunities for our tenants to express concerns and make recommendations for improvement of our facilities and services. We will strive to understand the socio-demographic profile of our tenant population, understand their needs in a holistic sense, and assist them in achieving their goals.
We are committed to providing to the staff who deliver our services the resources they need to be effective in their work. We will advocate for funding that will enable our organization to be effective, responsive and innovative. We will provide opportunities for staff and board members to achieve and maintain current knowledge concerning customer relations, affordable housing, property management, building technologies, information technology and other key bodies of knowledge.
We are committed to working with non-profit housing providers, other agencies and all levels of government to find ways of better meeting the needs of the people we jointly serve through advocacy, better coordination of services and joint planning and development of new and enhanced services. We will take a leadership in such endeavors where appropriate.
We are committed to fiscal responsibility and accountability. We will plan, budget and manage our finances responsibly, and use all resources efficiently and effectively. We will demonstrate value for money. We will foster positive and fruitful working relationships with all levels of government and with our Shareholder. We will work effectively with contractors and other agencies from which we purchase services. We will strive for demonstrable, continuous, quality improvement.
