The Library’s Most Borrowed Books for 2009

City residents are great library users and borrowed more than 340,000 items from the Library during 2009. The most borrowed library book of 2009 was “Silverwing” which was loaned out by 200 people. The list below contains the fifteen most popular books borrowed from the public library during the year.

  1. Silverwing by Kenneth Oppel
    Shade, a young Silverwing bat, is determined to prove himself during the winter migration only to be swept away from his family and friends during a storm. The book tells the story of Shade’s remarkable journey to rejoin his family.  This book was selected by the Library for its first “One Book, One Community” program, which ran during the months of October and November.
  2. The Appeal by John Grisham
    A powerful story that will leave readers unable to think about the American electoral process or judicial system in quite the same way ever again.
  3. Divine Justice by David Baldacci
