Camps

Parks, Recreation & Culture has been providing children’s day camp programs for over 20 years.  Thousands of kids have had the opportunity to meet new friends, try new sports and games and have a whole lot of fun.

Summer Camps

Little Explorers (4-6 years)

8 weeks of Little Explorers for 2010! A camp experience for the little ones focusing on fun!  Active games, outdoor play, swimming, sports, songs, and community adventure.  Each day campers will have the opportunity to play and participate in a variety of structured and unstructured games and activities.  On Monday afternoon little explorers will visit the Lindsay Library.  Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday campers will end the day with a swim in the small pool from 4:00-4:30 pm (lifejackets provided).  Extra Supervision is available for an additional fee, this camp does not attend the weekly trip.  Transportation to and from the Lindsay Library is provided.  Location:  Lindsay Recreation Complex Community Room

Sports Camp (7-13 years) 22nd Anniversary

Based at the Fleming College Field House next to the Lindsay Recreation Complex Sports Camp participants will have the opportunity to get active with a variety of sports and games.  Campers will have a daily afternoon swim (except on trip days) and the opportunity to skate at the Lindsay Recreation Complex.  Weekly bus trips are planned to Blue Jays Games, Cedar Park, the Metro Toronto Zoo and more (Additional $25 fee).  See trip schedule for all the details!  Extra supervision is available for additional fee.  Location:  Fleming Field House & Lindsay Recreation Complex

Travel Camp (6-13 years)

This fun filled camp will bring our leaders to different communities throughout the summer.  Campers will enjoy a wide variety of sports, games, crafts and the great outdoors all in their own community.  Weekly bus trips are planned to Blue Jays Games, Cedar Park, the Metro Toronto Zoo and more (Additional $25 fee).   See trip schedule for all the details!  Extra Supervision is available for additional fee. Location varies by week.

Sugar & Spice Girls Camp (Ages 7-13)

New Program! Based at Fleming College campers will enjoy all the things that girls like to do.  Arts, crafts, games, dance and more.  The girls will participate in the daily fun swim each afternoon,  get to skate at the Lindsay Recreation Complex, and join in on the weekly bus trips to Cedar Park, the Blue Jays game, and the Metro Toronto Zoo and more (additional $25 fee).  Special Guests will be dropping by for the girls to learn and try cool new things!  See trip schedule for all the details!  Extra supervision is available for additional fee.

Location:  Fleming Field House & Lindsay Recreation Complex

Sport & Swing (7-13 years)

In partnership with the Lindsay Golf & Country Club this program will provide an introduction to golf with a CPGA teaching professional.  In addition to sports and games this camp includes 90 minutes of golf instruction Monday through Thursday at the LGCC practice facilities.  Friday campers will try out their new skills on the golf course (6 holes) followed by a snack at the club for the total golf experience!  Early tee off time on Friday to be confirmed.  Golf instruction rain or shine please dress for the weather.  Daily afternoon fun swim at the Lindsay Recreation Complex.  Golf equipment is available if required, transportation and Friday snack included.  This camp does not attend the weekly trip.  Extra supervision is available.

Sport & Skate (7-9 years)

In addition to all the great Sports Camp activities this camp also includes 90 minutes daily on-ice power skating and hockey skill instruction with experienced hockey coach John Johnson Jr each morning.  Campers will join the fun swim in the afternoon.  Full hockey equipment is required, this camp is for experienced hockey players only, players must be able to dress themselves.  This camp does not attend the weekly trip.  Extra supervision is available.

Location:  Lindsay Recreation Complex & Fleming Field House.

Sport & Swim (7-13 years)

This day camp is for children who love the water and includes traditional camp activities as well as a 45 minute swimming lesson each morning with a certified Red Cross Instructor.  Children will work on their Red Cross swim level and enjoy all the camp fun and games.  In addition to the morning swim lesson campers will also attend the afternoon fun swim.  Please bring your previous swimming progress report at time of registration to ensure you are placed in the correct level (achieving a swim level is dependent on the child, two weeks of swim lessons will improve chances of successful completion of a level.)  This camp does not attend the weekly trip.  Extra supervision is available.

Sport & Scoop (7-13 years)

New Program! In addition to all the great Sports Camp activities this camp also includes 90 minutes of Lacrosse instruction at the Lindsay Recreation Complex with a professional lacrosse player.  Participants will enjoy a fun swim every afternoon.  Full lacrosse equipment is required.  This camp does not attend the weekly trip.  Extra supervision is available.

Location:  Lindsay Recreation Complex & Fleming Field House.

Tennis Camp (8-13 years)

Basic tennis instruction and skill development will be taught through a variety of drills and games with an OTA certified instructor.  Focus will be on forehand, backhand and serve.  Daily games and end of week tournament.  Please provide your own racquet.  This camp does not attend the weekly trip.  Rain or shine – alternate activities my take place in case of rain.

Location:  Memorial Park, Lindsay.  Rain or shine – alternate activities my take place in case of rain.

Weekly trips are scheduled and cost an additional $25 per child. Care is not available for children registered in Sports Camp, Sugar & Spice Camp or Travel Camp who do not attend the trip.

What to Bring to Camp

  • Lunch, snacks and drinks (no nut products please)
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Running shoes (no sandals/crocs)
  • Sunscreen and hat
  • Clothing appropriate for the weather and activities
  • Swimsuit, towel, extra t-shirt and bag for wet clothing (if swimming or for water play)
  • Skates and helmet (helmets are mandatory)
