Road Classification
Local Roads
Mainly function to provide non-thoroughfare traffic and property accessibility. The City’s local roads are either gravel or surface-treated and typically receive a relatively low level of traffic.
Collector Roads
Mainly serve to facilitate and distribute traffic between arterial and local roads, and provide a mixture of thoroughfare traffic and property accessibility. The City’s collector roads are usually surface-treated and typically receive medium-level traffic volumes.
Arterial Roads
Mainly provide for thoroughfare traffic along with a high level of connectivity on a relatively regional scale. The City’s arterial roads typically receive the largest traffic volumes on municipal roadways and are usually co-designated by a road name and road number, such as Killarney Bay Road #21.
