The City of Kawartha Lakes has approved harmonized standards for roads and sidewalk maintenance. These maintenance levels have established safe, reliable, and affordable snow and ice control standards across the city.

Our Public Works Department begins coordinating its crews to clear over 2600 km of roadways, 150 km of sidewalks and 250 bridges. If you have a concern about your road, please call 705-324-9411 Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm. For after hours municipal emergencies please call 1-877-885-7337.

The following services are typically delivered from November-April.

Winter Control: Snow is cleared off of roads and sidewalks, and cleared out of municipal parking lots when needed, in addition to sanding and salting for safety.

Winter Patrol: Each of the three operations areas employs patrol personnel to monitor weather and road conditions, and to deploy winter control resources in accordance to those conditions.

Culvert and Catch Basin De-Icing: Ice clogging culverts and catch basins is steamed, thawed, and cleared away to allow for proper water flow.
