Be Waste Wise: Sort it Out!
Introducing the new City-wide recycling campaign ‘Be Waste Wise: Sort it Out!’; a message that will be incorporated into all aspects of City diversion programs. As we move forward local residents, businesses and schools will be challenged to increase the City’s overall diversion rate which is currently 41%.
Ontarians generate an estimated 34,000 tonnes of waste per day or over 12 million tonnes of waste per year. Waste is part of our daily life. The ‘Be Waste Wise: Sort it Out!’ campaign will challenge you to think about the choices you make from product packaging to disposal options. As new diversion programs are launched, this campaign will also provide you with the tools required to help achieve the City of Kawartha Lakes diversion rate target of 60%.
The City of Kawartha Lakes’ natural environment is one of our greatest assets. Let’s continue to make the City a cleaner and greener place for everyone to live, work and play!
