What is my weekly residential bag limit?

All households are entitled to set out two standard sized garbage bags or containers of waste to be collected at curbside each week; each bag must NOT weigh more than 40 lbs or 18 kg after filling.

How can I help keep roadside ditches litter-free?

After the snow melts winter debris can become an eye sore in roadside ditches.  By taking part in the City’s Adopt A Road program you can become an active member in your community. To become involved please complete an Adopt a Road Application Form.

Why should I separate my waste and recycling when the garbage collector puts it all in the same truck?

Although it is true that waste and recycling are put in the same truck on some routes, what you are seeing is called a ‘split truck’ in the industry. The truck bodies are split at a 60/40 ratio; waste is placed in one compartment and recycling in the other. Our contractor is able to collect both waste and recycling with one pass, eliminating the need for more fleet vehicles. This helps to keep collection costs down.

What time do I have to put out my garbage and recycling?

The set out time for your garbage and recycling collection is 7:00 a.m. This ensures you will receive collection. We are unable to guarantee that the trucks will always be able to come at the same time each week; road conditions or staffing levels could cause route changes.

Can I bag my recyclables?

Recyclables collected in our municipality are exported for processing outside the City. The facility is not set up to de-bag recyclables and therefore extra costs are incurred to process this material.
