Inclement Weather

In the event of hazardous road conditions due to weather, collection cancellation may be necessary in the interest of public safety.  If this occurs, please listen to your local radio station for updates or check the City website.  We appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Is Your Waste and Recycling Visible?

Make sure your waste and recycling boxes are not in the path of the snow plow and are still visible from the road.  DO NOT PLACE COLLECTION ITEMS ON OR BEHIND THE SNOWBANK.  The best visible and accessible location is the centre of your driveway.

White or clear bags are very difficult for the drivers to see against the snow.  Please use coloured bags during the winter season.

Seasonal Road Maintenance Requirements

If you receive curbside waste and recycling collection on a private seasonal road during the winter months, please ensure your road is plowed and sanded as required.  You will receive curbside collection if the road is maintained to the following standards:

• Snow plowed to a minimum of 10 feet or 3 meters wide.
• Sand or salt applied during icy conditions.
• Vegetation cut back to 10 feet or 3 meters high and wide.
• Filling of potholes, cracks and grading as required.

If the collection contractor assesses the road as unsafe for a collection vehicle, you will not receive curbside collection until such time as winter maintenance occurs.

Note: Collection may be delayed in spring if road conditions do not allow for safe passage by collection vehicles.

Alternate Winter Collection Setout Locations

Below is a list of the private seasonal roads that do not receive curbside waste and recycling collection from November 1^st until May 1^st.  Alternate winter collection setout locations for these roads have been arranged and are listed below.  Please ensure a two-bag waste limit.

Note: Large/ bulky items and Freon appliances require a pre-paid tag and pick-up must be arranged with Miller Waste Systems Inc. prior to setout.  Please call 1-888-557-4711 to arrange collection of these items.
