  • Se t out garbage out the morning of collection instead of the night before

Waste Management Facilities (Landfill) can be an attractive place for black bears.  Although waste is covered on a regular basis, bears will enter the site and dig for their dinner.

Should you encounter a bear at the tipping face, back away slowly and get into your vehicle and notify the attendant.  The City of Kawartha Lakes prohibits “bear watching” at all City waste management facilities and wants to remind residents that access to the site is restricted when the site is not in operation and charges of trespassing will be laid.
