Some Tips:

Place garbage out in a rigid container or garbage box

  • Set out garbage out the morning of collection instead of the night before

Waste Management Facilities (Landfill) can be an attractive place for black bears. Although waste is covered on a regular basis, bears will enter the site and dig for their dinner.

To ensure your safety, the City asks that should you encounter a bear, back away slowly and get into your vehicle and notify the attendant.

  • “Bear Watching” is prohibited at all City waste management facilities
  • Access to the site is restricted when the site is not in operation and charges of trespassing will be laid.
