Tire Recycling

Stack_of_Tires.gifAs of September 1, 2009, the City of Kawartha Lakes participates in a provincial tire recycling program: Ontario Tire Stewardship.  This program allows City residents to take tires to all City Waste Management Facilities (landfills) at no cost without quantity restrictions.

Anyone dropping off 50 or more tires must contact Solid Waste Services in advance of delivery to make drop-off arrangements.

All tires must be clean and free of debris to be accepted at no cost.

Tires Accepted include:

  • Agricultural drive and logger skidder tires
  • Medium truck tires
  • Off the road tires
    • Small
    • Medium
    • Large
    • Giant
  • Passenger and light truck tires
  • Small and large industrial tires

Tires Not Accepted include:
Tires made from material other than rubber

  • Wheelchair tires
  • Commercial aircraft tires
