Summer 2011: Volunteers Required

As part of the Community Lead Sampling program, the City of Kawartha Lakes is currently taking water samples from residential and non-residential properties that are municipally serviced throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes. Our qualified contractor will be going door to door offering this free service. The samples will be analyzed for lead and the volunteers will receive a copy of the results. There is absolutely no charge for this service. We hope that you will participate in the Community Lead Sampling Program and help us meet our sampling requirements.

The Community Lead Sampling program started in June 2007, when the Ministry of the Environment announced its Lead Action Plan to expand water safety protection and reduce the potential for elevated levels of lead in drinking water.

In order to comply with the Lead Action Plan and the associated amendments to Ontario Regulation 170/03 under the Safe Drinking Water Act, 2002, the Water and Wastewater Division is required to bi-annually sample a number of locations throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes Municipal Drinking Water Systems.

The City of Kawartha Lakes is committed to providing residents and businesses with high quality, clean, and most importantly safe drinking water.

If you have any questions regarding this program please feel free to contact us as detailed below.
