Preventative maintenance on hydrants includes flushing (to remove debris), fire flow testing (to ensure adequate pressure) and dip testing (to ensure hydrants aren’t plugged.) Maintenance of the City hydrants is essential for ensuring that firefighters can tap into the City water supply.
Any maintenance work the City is completing will be posted on the website.
The City is no longer maintaining hydrants located on private property. Owners of private hydrants are responsible for all maintenance on these hydrants. For more information regarding owner responsibility, please contact the Water and Wastewater Division at 705-324-9411, extension 1121.
